22nd -“Tombeau de Debussy” featuring Trio Satie: is a collective work composed in 1920 in memory of Debussy who died in 1918.
It consists of 10 pieces of music – 6 for solo piano (Poul Dukas, Albert Roussel, Gian F. Malipiero, Eugene Goosens, Bela Bartok, and Florent Schmitt) 1 work for cello and violin by Maurice Ravel, 1 for guitar by Manuel de Falla and 4 songs by Erik Satie. Igor Stravinsky’s Pastorale for voice and piano will also be performed by Trio Satie.
The idea for the work, which was a “hommage international à la mémoire de Debussy”, was Henry Prunières, editor of the Revue Musicale. The first performance took place in January 1921 at the Société Musicale Indépendante (SMI).
In addition to this collection of works, we will put Claude Debussy’s sonatas for violin and cello, which he wrote shortly before his death, on the program.

As far as we know, “Tombeau de Debussy” has never before been performed in its entirety in Denmark, that’s why we have invited flutist Toke Lund Christiansen to be the speaker and to introduce and guide both the audience and the musicians well through the work.
In addition, we have invited pianists Tove Lønskov, Mimi Birkelund, Christian Ihle Hadlandand, violinist Gina McCormack, cellist Andreas Brantelid, clarinetist Søren Birkelund, and winners from previous Erik Satie competitions as well as students at DKDM.

at Musikhuset København, Vesterbrogade 59, Copenhagen V at 4 pm.
